Top 5 - Post Apocalyptic Movies

It’s no secret I have a love affair with post-apocalyptic movies and television shows. Even bad ones, b-movies, heck c-movies, I will watch them all. Low budget, no budget or high budget, there’s just something about the thought of the world ending that makes me want to watch. Maybe secretly fantasizing about not having to go to work and starting over as a subsistence farmer gets my juices flowing. Part of the reason why I wrote and produced Hot Rodders of the Apocalypse.

It could be aliens, zombies, bird/swine flu, animals taking the world back, natural disasters, societal breakdown…so many things. I’m not a prepper, but I am prepared. Bring on the end of the world!

5. Mad Max/Road Warrior/Fury Road/Furiosa - et. al, baby! Hot rodding around a desert wasteland, looking for precious fuel to just…keep going. The leather, mohawks and crazy over the top characters are a plus, and make it fun-ish!

4. The Road - Cormac McCarthy’s book is rough. Seeing it come to life with Viggo Mortenson and Kodi Smit-McPhee trapesing across the gloomiest of landscapes is hard to watch. How anyone keeps an ounce of hope in that world is beyond me.

3. 28 Days Later - Fast zombies suck, man. I always think I’d do OK with the Night of the Living Dead type, but I don’t have the cardio discipline to run a marathon.

2. Children of Men - The lengthy single-shot sequences and documentary flair are super engaging in this sad tale of a dying planet that has no children or hope.

1. The Quiet Earth - “If you don't come out I'll shoot the kid!” What would you do if you were the last man on earth? How do you maintain sanity and carry on.

Did I do good on this list? What are your favorites?
